Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Skinology Medical Aesthetics.
By booking an appointment, you are confirming that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined below.
Suitability for Treatment
Prior to any aesthetics treatment, you are required to have a consultation to assess whether the treatment is suitable for you, or likely to be successful. In most cases, this will include a full medical history and facial assessment. You are responsible for notifying the practitioner of any medical conditions and medication you are taking. You must also inform them if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may be pregnant. All information will be kept strictly confidential. Failure or refusal to cooperate with the pre-treatment consultation will result in refusal of treatment and your consultation fee will be non-refundable. Even if you wish to have a particular treatment, if the practitioner does not believe that treatment is in your interest, they will inform you of the reasons why and treatment will be declined.
Consultations incur a non-refundable fee which covers the practitioner’s time and expert advice. This fee is redeemable against any aesthetics treatment deemed suitable by the practitioner during your consultation, and will be deducted from the total cost on the day. If after your consultation, you decide not to book an aesthetics treatment, or the practitioner feels you are not suitable for treatment, then the consultation fee charged is that for the assessment you received and you will not be entitled to a refund.
We do not offer treatments on the same day for new patients as we want to make sure you are suitable for the treatment, happy with the treatment plan and have a suitable amount of time scheduled for your treatment. Before undergoing any aesthetics treatment, you are strongly encouraged to consider all the benefits and risks explained to you as part of your consultation and clarify anything you are unsure about. It is important not to rush into any decisions.
The consultation fee for a customised skincare plan is not redeemable against products or treatments. This is the fee charged for the practitioner’s time and expert advice for the assessment.
We do not treat children or young adults under the age of 18. Identification may be required as proof of age – we accept a valid driver’s license or passport.
Skinology Medical Aesthetics reserves the right to refuse to treat clients for any reason.
Treatment Expectations
Skinology Medical Aesthetics will use what is considered best practice and up-to-date techniques to help achieve a good outcome but no guarantees can be given about the clinical outcomes of any treatment undertaken and results are variable and subjective. Results vary from person to person and depend on several factors, some of which cannot always be predicted.
Consent
Before commencement of any treatment, you will be required to sign a consent form to confirm you are happy to receive treatment. On signing the consent form, you are confirming you have been informed of, read and understand the benefits and risks of the treatment. In addition, you are acknowledging that no guarantees can be given about clinical outcomes and results are variable and subjective. Please ask any questions you may have; we encourage questions and aim to ensure a thorough understanding of the procedure. Consent may be verbally withdrawn at any time prior to the treatment taking place.
Appointments
Appointments are at your request and require a non-refundable deposit in advance to secure your booking. This deposit is fully redeemable towards your treatment on the day.
Kindly arrive 10 minutes prior to the appointment start time to complete all necessary paperwork and pre-checks. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will forfeit the appointment and your deposit. We hope you can understand that we cannot rush your treatment or that of patients booked after you that day.
You will be informed of any preparation required before your appointment. Failure to comply may result in cancellation, reduced treatment time, or additional charges.
You are responsible for updating the practitioner undertaking your treatment of any changes in your health, including any medication changes. If you attend your appointment but are not medically well enough to be treated or have open wounds, such as cold sores, you will not be treated for your own safety. This will result in your deposit being non-refundable.
Following your appointment, additional aftercare advice may be provided depending on the treatment you receive. It is your responsibility to comply with any instructions and advice provided.
Children will not be allowed in the treatment room. We therefore kindly request you do not bring children under the age of 12 to your appointment unless a responsible adult is accompanying you and can look after them whilst you are being treated. Under no circumstances can children be left unattended in the clinic and failure to comply will result in immediate cancellation without refund.
Post-Treatment Reviews
For each aesthetics treatment, one routine follow-up review is included as part of the treatment cost. The timeframe varies depending on the treatment but is typically within 2-4 weeks following your treatment. If you do not book a review within this time period, any subsequent reviews will be chargeable. All follow-up review appointments apply to the cancellation policy; if we do not receive at least 72 hours’ notice of cancellation or amendments to your appointment, or you fail to attend your follow-up review appointment, any subsequent reviews will be chargeable.
Reviews refer to the treatment delivered and include the agreed volumes and doses of any used and paid for product. Additional services or products will be charged accordingly.
Cancellations and No-Shows
At Skinology Medical Aesthetics, our appointments are precious but we understand that plans can change. If you are unable to attend your appointment, you must provide at least 72 hours’ notice otherwise you will lose your deposit. Notice must be in writing by emailing info@skinologymedical.co.uk
Please do not attend for an appointment if you are unwell. If you are unsure, please call to discuss with us. Many treatments are contraindicated if you are unwell; this includes colds, cold sores or local skin infections.
If you fail to attend your appointment, you will not be eligible for a refund or transfer of the deposit. This is because the clinic is unlikely to be able to offer that appointment to another client at such short notice. Furthermore, the clinic will have already paid for and ordered in products for your specific treatment.
If you are on a course of treatment and fail to attend your appointment, or are more than 15 minutes late and the treatment cannot be performed, that treatment will automatically be deducted from the course.
Skinology Medical Aesthetics reserves the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to unforeseen circumstances, practitioner availability, or majeure events. Where possible, cancellations will be communicated to you at least 24 hours’ in advance, however, no liability shall arise for cancellations made without notice.
Complications
Although rare, some procedures have documented complications that will be explained to you during your consultation and consent process. Some people may have higher risk factors, which may contribute to the occurrence of complications. In the unlikely event of a complication, this will be managed within the clinic where possible. In the very unlikely event of a complication being more serious and you needing further treatment outside the clinic expertise, you may need to be treated by the national health service, or if you wish, privately at your own cost. Please note, it is possible that any private medical insurance may not cover complications arising from cosmetic work. Complications are rare, and we would like to reassure you that if one does occur, we will support you in every way possible.
